Plant air systems Flashcards
(21 cards)
What is the purpose of Plant Air Systems?
designed to provide sufficient compressed air of suitable quality and pressure for instruments, controls, breathing air and pneumatic tools
Describe the purpose of the Service air system (SAS)
Provides high pressure air throughout the plant; pneumatic tool connections and pressure reducing station for fuel pool gate seals, and backup for IAS through IAS filters and dryers
Describe the purpose of the Instrument air system (IAS)
Provides filtered, dry, high pressure air for: pneumatic instruments and controls; pneumatically operated valves; and breathing air
Describe the purpose of the Containment instrument air system (IAC)
Supplied by IAS; supplies various air loads within containment
Describe the function and location of the Service air compressor (SAS-C1)
What does CSD stand for?
Cold Shutdown
Are the IAS, SAS, or IAC required for safe shut down of the plant?
No
Describe the function and location of the Air receivers
Where are all the major components of this system located?
14’ elevation of the turbine building
Describe the function and location of the Service air header isolation valve (SAS-AOV33)
Describe the function and location of the Unit 3 to unit 2 air cross connect spool pieces (IAS & SAS)
Describe the function and location of the Instrument air compressors (IAS-C1A/C1B)
Describe the function and location of the Service air to instrument air cross-connect valve (IAS-AOV14)
Describe the function and location of the Instrument air system air dryers (normal and emergency)
Describe the function and location of the Instrument air containment isolation valves (IAS*PV15 AND *MOV72)
Describe the function and location of the Instrument air compressor cooling supply and return valves (CCS-AOV192A/B, AOV193A/B, AOV191A/B, AOV194A/B)
Describe the function and location of the Shutdown instrument air compressors (IAS-C2A/C2B)
Describe the function and location of the Shutdown instrument air compressor header isolation valve (IAS-AOV95)
Describe the system response to loss of electrical power
