1
Q

What are xylem tubes?

A

Carry water and mineral salts from plant’s roots to leaves

2
Q

What are phloem tubes?

A

Carry food (sugars and amino acids) from leaves to other parts of plant

3
Q

What are nitrates needed for?

A

Cell growth. Too little nitrates causes plant to be stunted with yellow leaves

4
Q

What are phosphates needed for?

A

Respiration and growth. Too little phosphates causes poor root growth and purple leaves

5
Q

What is potassium needed for?

A

Photosynthesis and respiration. Too little potassium causes poor growth and discoloured leaves

6
Q

What is magnesium needed for?

A

To make chlorophyll. Too little magnesium causes yellow leaves

7
Q

What is photosynthesis? Give the word equation

A

Production of glucose using sunlight and chlorophyll

CO2 + water –> glucose + oxygen

8
Q

Give the balanced equation for photosynthesis

A

6CO2 + 6H2O —> C6H12O6 + 6O2
