Plant transportation system Flashcards
What is pholem cell?
Transport sugars up and down the stem to growing and storage tissues.
What is xylem cell?
Transport water and minerals up the stem (one direction)
Memorize this and recall (A)
Vascular bundles to provide support
What’s Translocation?
Movement of sugars through the pholem and it requires ATP
What’s Transpiraton?
Stomata open and close to allow exchange of gases, as a result plants lose water.
List me 4 effects of Transpiration rate
- Temperature – Increase transpiration
- Humidity – decrease transpiration
- Wind – increase transpiration
- Light intensity – increase transpiration
Recall (A)
Vascular bundles to provide support
How do vascular bundle provide support.
- They form a network in the leaf that supports softer leaf tissue
- VB is located around the outer edge of stem giving stem with strength to resist bending.
- VB is found in centre of root, enabling root to act as an anchor.
