Features of a Plantation Town
The new towns were well planned.
The houses were laid out in streets with a square, often called a Diamond, wherethe courthouse or church was built .
A network of roads was built to link the towns.
They organised markets and fairs in the towns where settlers and native Irish could sell their crops.
The towns were surrounded by stone walls.
The native Irish were forbidden to live in the towns.

Laws that suppressed Catholics in Ireland
