Convection currents are semi molten rocks in the mantle being heated by the inner core and then moving towards the surface before cooling and sinking

They pull apart allowing magma to rise to the surface forming volcanoes

They are formed by an oceanic plate being pushed underneath a continental plate

An oceanic plate moving parallel to a continental plate
