- Enfield tells Utterson about Hyde trampling a girl

- Utterson looks at Jekyll’s will- leaves possessions to Mr Hyde
- Utterson sees that Hyde goes into Dr J’s lab. He goes to warn Dr J. He isn’t in

- Two weeks later, Utterson goes to a dinner party at Jekyll’s house and tells him about his concerns. Jekyll laughs off his worries

- Elderly man got murdered in a street by Hyde
- Letter to Utterson found on body
- Utterson recognises under weapon- Dr J’s broken cane
- Takes police to J’s house to find Hyde. Told that he hasn’t been there for 2 months
- Found other part of cane

Chapter 5: Incident of the Letter
A
- U goes to J’s house
- J looks ill
- U asks about H and J shows a letter that says H is not going to be back
- U thinks letter had been forged by J to cover H

Chapter 6: Remarkable Incident of Dr Lanyon
A
- H has disappeared and J seems happy
- Sudden depression strikes J
- U goes to Dr Lanyon on his death-bed who hints that Jekyll is the cause of his illness
- U writes to J and receives a reply that suggest he has fallen under a dark influence
- Lanyon dies and leaves a note to U to open after the death or disappearance of J
- U tries to revisit J but is told by Poole that he is living in isolation

Chapter 7: Incident at the Window

- U and Enflid are out fro a walk and pass J’s window, where they see him like a prisoner
- U calls out and J’s face has a look of abject terror and despair.

- P visits U and asks to come to J’s house
- Door to lab is locked and the voice inside sounds like Hyde
- P says voice has been asking fro days for a chemical to be brought
- has rejected is because not pure
- They break down door and find twitching body with vial in hand
- Will that leaves everything to U
- Package containingJ’s confession and a letter telling U to read Lanyon’s letter

Chapter 9: Dr Lanyon’s Narrative
A
- Content of L’s letter tells how he received letter from J asking to collect chemicals, a vial and notebook from J’s lab and give it to man who would call at midnight
- A man arrives and drinks the potion which transforms him into J, causing Lanyon to fall ill

Chapter 10: Henry Jekyll’s Full Statement of the Case

- J tells the story of how he turned into Hyde
- Began as a scientific investigation into the duality of human nature and an attempt to destroy his darker self
- Eventually he became addicted to being Hyde, who increasingly took over and destroyed him
