Which crops are covered by PMFBY?
Covered crops are notified by State government for Rabi and Kharif seasons
What are the premium payable by farmer?
Rabi crops - 1.5%
Kharif crops - 2%
Commercial and Horticultural crops - 5%
How is PMFBY funded?
The balance amount after the farmer’s premium will be equally shared between the Union and State governments.
What is ‘Area Based Approach’ under PMFBY?
All farmers in a particular notified area will have to pay the same premium and will have same claim payments
Cases covered by PMFBY
PMFBY covers:
- Yield losses due to non preventable risks (Flood, cyclone, tsunami etc. )
- Farmers unable to sow due to adverse weather condition
- Post harvest losses
- Localised calamities
What is Crop Cutting Exercise (CCE) associated with PMFBY?
CCE helps to analyse and estimate overall yield of an area
