Glaucoma is a disease that damages the eye’s optic nerve, often due to high pressure inside the eye, and can lead to vision loss if not treated.

primary open angle glaucoma caused by blockage or reduced drainage of aqueous humour

what is known about the pathology POAG
- doesn’t drain properly through trabecular mesh work
- high iop as pressure builds up
- pressure damages optic nerve fibres
- vision loss starting from the sides
effects on vision POAG
loss of peripheral vision(side vision)
then loosing central vision
how to treat POAG
- lower iop
- eye drops
- laser surgery
optic disc cupping is a sign of it

AMD is an eye disease that affects the macula (the central part of the retina), causing loss of central vision, especially in older adults.
