A

Loyalty to H- meant that he quickly accepted Norfolk’s conditions

Lack of action- he didnt respond when H didnt go on a royal progress in the North like he said he would. This led to Bigod’s rising

Cromwell’s response to the rebellion

A

Able to close down larger monastries because he could associate them with disobedience

Continued to promote Protestantism e.g. 1538 injunctions of the clergy ordered priests to discourage the veneration of relics

Rebellion may have encouraged more reforms

Role of Norfolk

A

Once he realised that the rebels had more men in Nov and Dec 1536, he decided to negotiate

Role as leader of the conservative faction made it easier to persuade Aske that H would restore the monastries after they were surrendered

Able to persuade Aske and Constable to go to court

A

Executed 144 including Aske and Constable

Miller, a completely loyal royal agent, was executed for pointing out that the rebels were in a strong position to negotiate (seen as treasonous)
