What is IOPC?
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is the police complaints watchdog for England and Wales. It’s an independent body.
They have investigators but also appoint another force to investigate the police force in question.
Roles/responsibilities of IOPC
- investigate complaints of misconduct against police
- sets standards for how police should handle complaints
- independent and oversees the police complaints
