What is human Security
-HS concept challenges the state centric notion of security, focusing instead on the individual as the main object of security
-It is about security of people rather than security of states
-putting people first
NB the groundwork for this concept was laid by Ul-Haq and Amartya Sen
-Amartya Sen thinks HS’s focus should be on improving primary education, health care
-HS should focus on building human development to confront poverty, illiteracy, restrictions, etc
