positioning/scan parameters Flashcards
(35 cards)
what is the patient position for the T-spine
Feet first , Supine, Sponge under knees for comfort
* Arms raised over head
where are the lasers lined up for the t-spine
Internal laser: 2” above jugular notch (T1)
* Coronal laser: Mid coronal plane
* Sagittal laser: Mid sagittal plane
whats the DFOV for a CT of the T-spine
DFOV: ∼16 cm (include transverse & spinous processes)
when setting up the scanograms where are the start and end points that need to be included for the T-spine
Start location: Just above T1
* End location: Just below T12 (unless a level is specified)
what is the patient position for a CT scan of the L-spine
Feet first , Supine, Sponge under knees for comfort
* Arms raised over head
where are the laseres located for the Ct of the L-spine
Internal laser: Xiphoid (T9/T10)
* Coronal laser: Mid coronal plane
* Sagittal laser: Mid sagittal plane
what is the DFOV for the L-spine
DFOV: 14-16 cm (Sideways include sacroiliac joints)
when setting up the scouts for the L-spine where are the start and end points
Start location: Just above L1
* End location: Mid sacrum just below SIJ (unless a level is specified)
what’s the patient position for a CT of the c-spine
- Patient position: Head first, Supine, Sponge under knees for comfort
- Use head scoop
Ask patient to lower shoulders as much as possible
where are the laseres located for a CT of the C-spine
Internal laser: Glabella
* Coronal laser: Mid neck / EAM
* Sagittal laser: Mid sagittal plane
what is the DFOV for the C-spine
- DFOV: ∼14cm (Include transverse & spinous processes)
when creating the scouts where are the starting and stopping points for the c-spine
Start location: Just above skull base
* End location: Mid T1 (include all C-spine vertebrae, unless a level is
specified)
what is the patient position for a C+ scan of the neck
: Head first, Supine, Sponge under knees for comfort
* Ask patient to lower shoulders as much as possible
* Extend neck slightly to position hard palate perpendicular to table
where are the lasers located for a C+ scan of the neck
- Internal laser: Glabella
- Coronal laser: Mid neck
- Sagittal laser: Mid sagittal plane
what are the breathing instruction for a C+ CT of the neck
- Breath hold: Hold your breath and don’t swallow
whats the DFOV for a C+ scan of the neck
DFOV: 20-24cm (include all soft tissue & nose)
when creating scouts for the soft tissue neck where is the start and end points
Start location: Mid orbit
* End location: Clavicular heads
what is the IV contrast for the soft tissue neck
- IV contrast: 125mL at 2.0mL/s. Split bolus—1st injection 50 mL, 2-
minute delay; 2nd injection 75mL
In the lab use single bolus IV contrast injection: 125ml at 3ml/s &
50ml saline start the scan after 40 sec delay
what is the delay for the soft tissue of the neck
scans initiated 25sec after the start of the second injection (As
per Romans, different in practice)
where are the lasers located for a C+ scan of the head
- External laser: Before advancing the patient in the gantry make sure the
head is symmetric. use the interpupillary line / outer canthus of the eyes - Dualscano: out 240 mm
- Internal laser: Chin / Mentum
- Coronal laser: EAM
- Sagittal laser: Mid sagittal plane
- Angle gantry parallel to the supraorbitomeatal line
what’s the patient position for the C+ scan of the head
Head first, Supine, Sponge under knees for comfort
whats the DFOV for a C+ scan of the head
DFOV: ∼23 cm
when creating scouts where are the start and end points points for a C+ scan of the head
- Start location: Just below base of skull
- End location: Just above vertex
what is the IV contrast for a C+ scan of the head
- IV contrast: 100 mL at 1.0 mL/s. Scan delay = 5 minutes
