A

I am Jiro Aiben Pinque. I am a certified public accountant and have worked for Starlight Corporation as an accountant for 3 years. Before working in a private firm, I worked as a bank teller for a year at BDO and took an internship at Reyes & Co. accounting firm. Over the past few years, I have handled clients who are ill-tempered and people who require immediate services in handling financial transactions. These experiences taught me how to become resilient and adaptable in every situation. Currently, I am an accountant in a small firm where I offer my services to small and medium-sized enterprises. Moving forward, my experiences in the accounting field have trained me to be more patient and meticulous in handling information, which I believe is the essential factor needed to accomplish this role. This brings me here to this wonderful opportunity to become one of the possible newest members of your company.

  1. What is your biggest weakness? How did you overcome it?
A

“In the past, I have found it difficult to work with aggressive personality types. While I understand diversity in personalities makes a business strong, I tend to quiet my own ideas and opinions around louder colleagues. To combat this, I have made it a point to spend more time with colleagues I feel uncomfortable working with. By learning more about them, their communication style and motivations, I am better able to collaborate with these personality types so that we both equally contribute our strengths and skills.”

What do you consider to be your biggest professional achievement?

A

My biggest professional achievement was completing all the required financial statements ahead of the given deadline during tax season. Every tax season, many clients from different companies or enterprises want their financial statements be attested by an independent auditor. Finishing ahead of the given deadline through effectively communicating our parts and responsibilities helped our team focus on different aspects and enjoy other recreational activities with other people.

Tell me about the last time a co-worker or customer got angry with you. What happened?

A

There was a time where my Co-worker took too long to submit the organized client information to the point that our department will be held accountable if the financial information is delayed by a day or so. I confronted my co-worker about not being punctual but he got angry and said unnecessary words to me. I explained to him in a calm manner about the consequences of his actions and tried to understand why he took to long to organize the client information. After coversation, we have our mutual understanding and he tried to make amends to our team. The day after he tried to be better and more responsible person for the sake of our team.

A

The toughest decision I made recently was to take a promotion on my hometown or pursuing career with greater opportunities and potential. A

There was a time where I disagreed with the decision of my superior about the deadline of the audited financial statements. That date there are so many work needed to be done and we as a team have finished scheduling the task needed to be finished. So I respectfully expressed the sentiments of our department, made sure to know his side of the story. After thoughtful deliberation, he agreed with the decision of our team and made sure to create a quality and precise audited financial statement.

First, I learn to accept the situation. If I have a pressing deadline, I work to prioritize my most important tasks and get my work done. I find that being adaptable helps me handle pressure quite well. Another strategy I use is finding a positive mindset. I try to reframe every challenge as an opportunity. This helps me stay motivated and excited to try more difficult tasks.

In my first 30 days, my goal would be to become familiar with your company’s processes and procedures. I would ask a lot of questions and spend a lot of time working late to get used to your company’s system. They are determined to finish their goals and will look for other alternatives. Also, they are detail oriented, they tend to pay close attention to details to avoid missing any information that could help in their endeavors.

A

The skills I have developed at the university is being adaptable and resilient in every situation. In the past, At my university where every two weeks examinations are conducted to test your knowledge, I learned how to be adaptable especially in managing my time. A

There was a time where I handled an ill tempered client professionally. He was very rude to our team because he wanted to have his audited financial statements at the end of the week. I explained to him the process in auditing and elaborate that he cannot be prioritized because there are previous clients before him and all have been scheduled. After careful deliberation, he fully understands the audit process and he said sorry to our team and to the management.

A

I am the one who tries to empower the people, and make them participate on the decisions we make in the department. On my previous job there was a situation where we are required to audit a huge company and there are so many financial information needed to be processed. First we communicate properly on how we process the financial statements and delegate every part based on their specialized field. Our team effort made us finished the audited financial statements in the given time and we also improve our work relationship with each other.

A

When I erroneously submitted a wrong presentation file to my boss, minutes before his presentation. When i knew about my mistake I quickly gave him the proper presentation and owned up to my mistakes. This valuable experience taught me to become more meticulous in checking files before submitting them and become responsible on my actions.

A

My biggest failure would be not taking more risks and grabbing opportunities. In the past, I have stayed in my comfort zone to the point where I am comfortable with unmoving progress. I want to correct my past actions because we can’t achieve development if we keep ourselves detained in an unchanging situation. Right now I want to take more opportunities and challenges in order for myself to achieve my dreams and the person I wanted to be in the future.

A

There was a time where I disagreed with my boss about the deadline of the audited financial statements. My boss tried to cut the deadline by half a week due to unknown reasons. I expressed my sentiments about this matter and understand from his point of view about why he reduced the deadline by half. After careful conversation, we know understands both situations and tried to compromise about the given deadline of the audited financial statements.

A

The urge to change my situation slowly, but surely. I want to live without financial constraints in my retirement years therefore i used my goal as a motivation to strive harder up to the point where financial constraints are not a problem.

I would inform the employee about their termination sternly, i’ll state the things that they did well along and those that they did poorly. Finally, I would allow them to ask any questions to ensure that any confusion or issues are addressed.
