Q

Name the agreements?

A

The “Big Question” according to Churchill was what were they going to do with Germany, a country left in a mess. They agreed to ban Nazism and the Nazi party and prosecute remaining Nazis. Also agreed was the decision to shrink the size of Germany and divide it into four zones controlled by Allied countries: France, Great Britain, the USA and the USSR.

Q

Name the disagreements?

A

There was major disagreements on the biggest issues. Truman was less tolerant of Stalin and was suspicious of spread of communism.
They argued over atomic bombs, and after USAs atomic bomb test in July 1945 Truman bragged he had “ultimate weapon” and “bossed the whole meeting”. Stalin was jealous and tired of being bossed around, and made a border between West of Germany and East, the USSR’s part which was much poorer.
