Powerplant Flashcards
(22 cards)
How many Full Authority Digital Electronic
Controls (FADEC) does each engine have?
Two single channel FADECs
Which position of the ignition selector knob allows the FADEC to control the ignition system depending on engine requirements?
Auto
Which thrust lever position provides the maximum thrust rating available for dual or single engine operation?
Max
Which thrust lever position selects the takeoff and go-around thrust and mode settings?
TO/GA
What does pressing the EVENT MARKER
button cause the ECU (FADEC) to do?
Record for a total of 3 minutes (2 minutes before pressing the button and 1 minute after the EVENT MARKER button is pressed)
When is the OAT on the EICAS indication displayed?
Up until the takeoff run
Is backing up the airplane with reverse thrust allowed?
No
Upon landing, when should the thrust reversers be stowed?
40 kts
When are the reversers available?
WOW signal indicating that the airplane
is on the ground and a wheel speed
What icon on the EICAS indicates current status of the reverser?
REV
Green = Commanded and Deployed
Amber= Commanded and In Transition
Where is the IGNITION status displayed?
On the EICAS
Green IGN = Commanded ON
Cyan IGN OFF = Commanded OFF
Where can the oil level be accurately read?
Either in the sight glass or measured via the Remote Oil Level Sensor (ROLS)
Is the engine oil quantity indication visible
with an engine running or in flight?
no
What is the maximum oil consumption rate of the engine per hour?
0.04 quarts (or 1 quart per 25 hours)
List the three sources of air pressure that the Air Turbine Starter can use for an engine start.
The APU, an opposite engine or a ground air supply
List the engine power settings that may be selected by the flight crew.
Takeoff/Go-Around (TO/GA)
Maximum Continuous (CON)
Climb (CLB);
Cruise (CRZ)
Maximum reverse.
When is the ATTCS function available?
To provide automatic thrust increase if ATTCS is previously armed and any one of the following conditions is true on takeoff or go around—OEI condition is detected (N2 difference between engines is greater than 15%); Loss of engine cross-communication; Windshear is detected; Thrust lever is moved to the
MAX position
When do you have to check the oil?
From 5 to 30 minutes after engine shutdown
What are the starting and motoring limits?
Max accumulated time—5 minutes; Maximum consecutive cycles—3; After reaching five minutes of accumulated time or three cycles (whichever occurs first), combining consecutive engine starting and motoring, 15 minutes of cool down time is required prior to additional engine start or motoring
What is the starting duty time limit?
Maximum time of 80 seconds
Can the engine be started with an ITT above 450°C (350°C NJA) ? If so, what must be accomplished prior to start?
Yes, dry motor the associated engine for 30 seconds prior to start
When can HP thermal bow occur? If an engine restart is desired within that time period, what is the recommended procedure?
When engine starts are initiated between 15 and 180 minutes after an engine shutdown. Dry motor the associated engine prior to start for 15 seconds or until N2 reaches 23% (whichever occurs first). After completion of this procedure, a normal engine start sequence can be initiated any time after 3 minutes and before 40 minutes have elapsed.
