basic requirements for PPL
- must be 117
- 40 hours of ground school (60% per section)
- minimum 45 hours flight time (17 dual, 12 solo 5 of which cross country)
- must complete a cross country flight of 150 nm including two full stop landings

- at least cat 3 medical
- radio test

how long are cat 3 medicals valid?

- exam for restricted operators certificate - aeronautical (ROC-A)
-mc, pass= 70%, issued by industry canada

- complete written examination for permit, license or rating
5 year recency
in order to regain currency..
- redo PSTAR and Demonstrate to a qualified flight instructor they can fly to the flight test standards
passenger carrying
- for a pilot to take passengers they must have completed 5 take offs and landings in the same category of aircraft in the last 5 months
- flights must be by day if carried during day and vise versa

C of A
Certificate of Airworthiness
- alternatives: permanent or temporary flight permit
- hang gliders and ultralight aircraft dont need one
-valid continuously as long as: annual airworthiness information report, compliance with airworthiness directives, rectification of any defects, operation of aircraft in accordance with POH
AAIP
Annual Airworthiness Information Report
- must be submitted by the anniversary of the certificate
- applies to Canada only (if taken outside Canada then a different certificate is required)
report must include : info on the most recent inspection, total flying hours in the period, any recent significant damage, aircraft engine and propeller data
things to look for on the CofA
-nationality and registration marks
-manufacturer and manufacturers aircraft type designation
-serial number
-category of operation (normal, restricted or standard)
-date of issue (up to date?)
-signature and seal
Special CofA
-for home built, limited maintenance , builder maintenance
-not equivalent to CofA, cannot be used outside of Canada
Flight permit (alternative to CofA)
for importing ferry flights (12 months or less)
-continuing validation requirments are similar to CofA
-maintenance
-compliance with ADs
-defects recorded
-not for commercial purposes
How to keep the CofA valid
- keep in weight and balance limits
- fly in accordance with POH
- only perform approved maneuvers
- regular aircraft inspections
- complete repairs (approved by AME)
- major engine overhall must be completed when mechanic declares
C of R
Certificate of Registration
- all aircraft except hang gliders must be registered
- must be approved for CofA to be registered
- aircraft ID letters must be clear and visible on a fireproof plate
- CofR remains valid until sold, permanently withdrawn from service, destroyed or exported
registration incase of which the aircraft is sold…
- the vender msut notify TC in 7 days
- the purchaser has 90 days to notify transport canada
the legal transfer does not take place until the date and time f the registered letter.

- temporary flight certificate valid for 90 days
ensure CofR is valid…
