What is Transcultural Counseling?
Having the ability and expertise to transcend cultural differences so that active interfacing with other cultures and populations considers cultural identity and contextual assimilation
Describe the three components to the process of transculturalism.
- Effective counseling requires mutual understanding between those sending and receiving communication.
- Transcultural counseling provides guidance and understanding on how to deal with mental and social crises because its work focuses on counseling rather than a particular model
- Empower clients and provide guidance by employing transcultural approaches involving listening accurately to inform clients of what different cultures offer and to help clients manage difficulties that occur within client’s cultural context.
What is culture?
