PQS Study Guide Flashcards
What are the two major assemblies that make up the MIB RV?
Chassis (Brushes, Drive, Wheels, Control Systems) & Carriage (Seats, Lapbars, Guns)
How many seats are on a stadard RV and how many are on an ADA RV?
Standard: 6, ADA: 4
Lis the major components that make up the chassis of the MIB RV (per OEM)
1.) Rotational Drive Aseembly, 2.) Guide Wheels, 3.) Linear Drive Assembly 4.) Rotary Home Lock Assembly 5.) Vehicle Ride Control System (VRCS) 6.) Electrical System 480 VAC 120 VAC 24VDC
Give a brief description of the linear drives and their purpose
They propel the vehicle around the ride track using an airbag to provide traction. 2 each, 3/4 HP - 2,700 RPM 480VAC 90HZ
What are the line and control voltages for an MIB RV?
Line Voltage 480VAC Control Voltage 24
What is the approximate net weight of an MIB RV?
2250
How do the linear drives maintain pressure on the center rail in order to move the RV?
An airbag set to 70 +- 5 PSI
What are the major components of the RV rotation assembly?
3HP motor, Gearbox, Sprocket Pully connected by a belt to a large sprocket connected to platform
How are power and control signals transferred to the RV?
Power 480 Right Side Control 24V Current Collector (Brushes)
What type of PLC is used by the MIB RV?
Allen Bradley SLC500 (or “Slick 500”)
How is vehicle speed calculated and is it calculated by the ride or the RV?
The VRCS calculates the elapsed time between two sets of show scene sensors to determine the actual vehicle speed. It is calculated by the VRCS
Explain how the MIB lap bars lock and release and how are they released if the RV is not in station?
Manual release lever back of RV - Locking Pawls
What is the purpose of the current collector assembly?
To provide power to the onboard electronics
What are the electrical components that make up the main power panel on the RV?
The 480VAC to 120VAC Transformer Fuse Protected on the Primary Secondary. 2) Fuses for the rotational and linear drives. Output contactor. 4.) 3 phase power monitor contactor 5.) Power disconnect switch
Identify the RV mounted drives used for linear propulsion and rotation
Linear propulsion: Linear Drive Rotation: Drive
How is information transferred from the vehicle controller to the land based controllers?
RF modem
Give as many examples of data that s transferred between the RV modem and the RSS03 data concentrator as you can
RRSSSFF
How do you manually move an RV?
Using a pendant
How are the RV system faults indicaed?
Array at the top of the stinger
What component provides a connection between the RV chassis and the RV platform?
The slip ring assembly provides power and the connection between the vehicle controller and the components mounted on the platform
List the functions of the RV On Board Gaming CPU
1.) Generation of all onboard audio 2.) Communication with the vehicle VRCS/PLC 3.) Score Tabulation / Calculation 4.) Targeting functionality for the TLA 5.) Internal Diagnostics 6.) Triggering control of onboard strobes 7.) Power distribution 8.) Control of the headlights / Taillights fuel tank 9.) Control of the diagnostics panel
What is the purpose of the RV caster wheel assembly?
To support the weight of the vehicle and allows the RV to roll freely along the track
What caution must be observed when working with the RV guns?
Laser Light Exposure
What is the purpose of the chassis maintenance control pendant?
The chassis maintenance pendant attached to a connector on the sie of the connector box located on the left rear corner of the chassis. The pendant is used to move a chassis with linear drive capability along the main track within the maintenance area.
