Definition of vitals? purpose?
Definition: Measurement of the body’s most basic function
Purpose: vitals is usetail in detecting medical problems.
What is temperature?
Temperature is the balance between the heat production in your body and heat loss
What is hypothermia? range of temp?
Hypothermia is the body’s lower temperature. Around 34-35 Celsius
What is the normal range of temperature?
36-37
Overall normal and abnormal range of temp?
Hypothermia 34 - 35

What is pulse rate?
Pulse rate is a wave of blood resulting from the contraction of left ventricle sa heart.
Normal and abnormal ranges of pulse rate?
Bradycardia 60 per min
Normal ranges 60-100 per min
Tachycardia 100 per min
What is respiratory rate?
Is the number of respiration in a minute, so respiration is the act of inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide, 1 respiration is equivalent of one respiratory cycle.

Infant 30-50
Children 20-30
Adult 12-20
What is hand washing? Purpose of hand washing?
Hand washing is the act of cleaning your hands to remove soil transient organisms. And the purpose of this is to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms and to prevent infections.
What is gloving technique? Purpose?
Gloving technique is a proper way of putting the gloves in a hand. And the purpose of this is to prevent infection control and also protection of the nurse.
What is bed making? Purpose?
Bed making is a technique of different types of bed are preparing to provide the comfort of the patient. And the purpose of this is to promote cleanliness. to provide safe and comfortable bed and to prevent bedsores.
Body mechanics? Purpose? How many positions?
It is the way you hold your body when you move around. And the purpose of this is to prevent muscle fatigue or muscle injury
Position and draping? Purpose?
It is the proper way of placing the patient safely and covering it in order to expose the part being examine. And the purpose of this is to provide comfort and privacy in your patient
What is perineal care? How many strokes?
Perineal care is the process of washing the genitalia of the patient. 4 strokes like 7710
Offering a bedpan? Purpose?
Offering a bedpan is to help your patient to urinate and to defecate. And the purpose of bed pan is to collect urine and feces.
How many bedpan we have? Name the bedpan with purpose.
- Regular bedpan - sa mga patient that can move their hips.
Fracture bedpan - is for the patient with hips problem or immobile.
Catheterization? And purpose?
Catheterization is the insertion of catheter in the urethra to help the patient to urinate. And the purpose of this is to obtain specimen and to measure the urine output
What is retention catheter?
Indwelling catheter. it is the continuous drainage without repeating catheterization and it is 2 way foley catheter.
Types of catheter?
Single catheter-straight catheter.
Retention catheter - 2 way foley catheter - long term like 1 or 2months before removing the catheter.
Continuous catheter irrigation - 3 way catheter.
Catheter in female? size? position? And length?
Size: 12-14 French, dorsal recumbent with the knees slightly flexed, length: 3-4 inches
Catheter Male? Size? Position? Length?
16-18 inches French, supine position, 6-9 inches
Catheter infant size and kids
Infant : 5-6 inches Frenchs
Kids : 8-10 French
What is nasogastric cavage/gavage? Purpose?
It is the technique of giving food or medicine from the tube through the nose into the stomach.
