Practical Skills Flashcards

1
Q

How to make a volumetric

A

Measure a mass of solid in a weighing bout 2dp empt in a beaker and freeing the mass this is the mass that has been transferred and measure the difference
Add distilled water and stir with the glass rod until all dissolved and the transfer to graduated flask with washing
Add deionised water to until marked value and then add a stopper an invert many times to allow all the contents and concentration to mix throughly

Q

how to make volumetric mass and concentration more accurate

A

use measurement differences
use distilled water to wask the volumetric flask
use distilled water to rinse the funnel and the stirring rod and the weighing boat

Q

how to do titration

A

pour 100 c3 roughly in a beaker rinse a volumetric pipete with the solution then fill the pipette with 25cm3 and place in the conical flask this flash must be rinsed with deionised water first, then add a tiny bit of phenothapelien indicator and record the initial colour
the rinse the burette with distilled water then acid and then fill the burette including the jet space ensuring no air bubble add the acid drop wise ensuring swirling of the flask and using a white tile at the background to ensure definiate colour change record the changed colour, rinse the side of the concial flask with deionised water as this doesnt affect the moles of any of the solution

Q

How to do sodium tgiosulphate practical

A

Get a container and make two holes in the container
Add the test tube to the container and pious 10 com of acid
Get another container and pour 10 com of sodium with a cross underneath thiosulphate record the initial temp then add 1 cm of the acid to the sodium thiolsulphtar and start to measure the temperature change and the time taken for cross to dies appear
Once disappeared add the solution to a sodium carbonate stopper bath
Repeat at higher temper rates

Q

How to do enthalpy change practical

A

Add twenty five cm of distilled deionised water to the beaker and then measure the initials temp whilst stirring continually then add anhydrous copper supfate rapidly and stir with a lid at 5 minutes start recording the temp until 15 minutes extrapolate both lines to fourth minute and measure the temperature change
