What is prayer?

A

Prayer is often referred to as ‘raising the heart and mind to God’. Prayer is basically a conversation where the believer opens him or herself up to the presence of God

Catholics believe the highest form of prayer is Jesus offering himself to the father on the cross

A
  • prayers that are passed down over generations
  • E.g. Our Father, Hail Mary & Glory be to the Father
  • also be useful in times when people do not feel like praying, but recognise that prayer is the one thing they most need

A
  • prayers done suddenly or without any set format and involves choosing your own words to say.
  • may want to offer prayer to a particular concerns
  • to belive that the spirit will guide them
  • christians believe that the prayer comes from the heart and reflects how the person’s feeling
