Define an abrahamic religion.
Religions that all believe in one God and are founded by or originate from Abraham/Ibrahim.
What is Jewish scripture called?
Tenakh, which is a name from the first letter of each part.
What was exodus?
When Moses led the Jewish slaves out of Egypt to a life of freedom.
What is passover/pesach?
Passover (Pesach) is the Jewish festival that commemorates the Israelites’ escape from slavery in Egypt, especially when the angel of death ‘passed over’ their homes during the final plague.
Define covenant.
A religious contract made with G-d. Jews believe that G-d made nine covenants with the Jewish people, the first five all being in the Torah.
What is circumcision in hebrew?
Brit milah.
What did Abraham promise in his covenant with G-d?
Obedience, righteousness, to walk before G-d and be pure.
What did G-d promise Abraham?
A land of his own and as many descendants as stars in the sky.
What was G-d’s promise to Moses?
To lead Moses out of the desert into the promised land.
What do the bitter herbs on the passover dish symbolise?
Reminder of the hard and bitter times Jews had to face as slaves.
What does the egg on the passover dish symbolise?
New life and hope for the future.

The lamb that was sacrificed on the night the Israelites were free.

Represents the speed with which they had to leave Egypt.
What does the charaset on the passover dish symbolise?
A mix which looks like the mortar the Israelites used when they were forced to build Egypt.
What do the karpas on the passover dish symbolise?
This item is dipped in salty water to remember the tears the Israelites cried in slavery.
What is Shabbat known as and why?
It is known as the day of rest because God rested on the seventh day.
When does Shabbat start and end?
Starts on Friday sundown and ends on Sunday sundown.
Why do the Jewish individuals try keep Shabbat?
It’s one of the ten commandments.
What does Messiah mean?
Anointed or the chosen one.
