Test governor operations:

  • cut out pressure (120-145psi)
  • cut in pressure; fan brakes until compressor cuts in
    (approx. 20-25psi less than cut-out pressure, but a minimum of 100psi)

A

Max air pressure loss after initial application must not exceed 1psi in 1 minute

A

Fan brakes to lower air pressure:

  1. low air warning comes on at a minimum of 60psi
  2. emergency brake button should pop out at a minimum of 20psi

Once low air warning and emergency valve have been tested, what comes next?

A

Turn engine back on:

  1. between 600-800rpm, observe the time needed for air pressure to rise from 85-100psi
    (should be less than 2mins)

After timing the rise in air pressure what will you then do?

A

Ensure park brakes have applied and remove wheel blocks:

  1. gently try to pull ahead; release park brakes
  2. move slowly ahead and make a service/foot-brake application
