Can predicted + monitored through different technologies:
- precipitation levels can be measured through a rain garage or precipitation radars = shows risk of mass movement triggered by heavy rainfall
- measure soil moisture content through a time-domain reflectometer
- measure incline of slope with inclinometer
- seismometers measure seismic waves going through the ground which can indicate whether there is a risk of mass movement being triggered
