How healthy people in the prehistoric times??
They were high deaths and and most people didn’t live up to the age of 40 but they were fit
How were their teeth?
Most people’s teeth were healthy and only very few had decay in them
What caused sickness
When particles of stones got into their mouth from bread which caused abscesses on their back teeth and carrying and pulling heavy loads caused painful swelling on the joints (osteoarthritis) (broken bones)
How did people treat illnesses and injuries
Trephining the head and a cut would be treated with herbs, people also wore charms to keep evil spirits away
What was trephining and why did they do it
Trephining was when a hole was made into someone’s hole with a trephine because they would be behaving abnormally so they were thought to have a evil spirit or a headache most ended in death but few survived
Who provided medical care
The medicine man and women/mothers and wives because they knew about healing powers and herbs
What did people think caused illnesses
Evil spirits
