Describe the neonate adaptation for circulation?

A

After birth, the path of the blood took during prenatal life changes to allow the neonate to by pass the loop previously taken by the placenta. When the umbilical cord is cut the hole in the heart is closed and blood can circulate to the lungs.

Describe the neonate adaptation for respiration?

A

Before birth they relied on the placenta to do this job. After the umbilical cord is cut,the neonate must adapt to breathing. Lungs become inflated (compact before) and then starts to breathe.

A

Adapts to drinking and digesting milk in order to obtain its nutrients.

A

The placenta delivered nutrients that were digested and waste was removed by the placenta. After birth the immediately passes urine, and usually the first poo is discoloured and quite smelly.
