Some pronouns take either the dative or accusative. When would the accusative be used and when would the dative be used?
When there is movement, the accusative is used and when there is no movement, the dative is used. Die Katze schläft hinter dem Sofa - dative (The cat sleeps behind the sofa) Die Katze läuft hinter das Sofa - accusative (The cat runs behind the sofa)
