-animal sacrifice was used as proof of piety - xenophon wrote that Socrates was seen sacrificing at public and private altars - so did believe/ honour traditional gods
-shows that women and men have different roles
women = preparing the bulls for sacrifice
men = the actual act of killing/performing the sacrifice
-personification of the winged goddess nike - but without the wings shown - victory for a music festival
-reverse depicts a libation being poured
