- Naproxen (NSAID)

19
Q

What drugs can cause bradycardia?

A
  • Beta blocker

- Digoxin (if dose is too high)

20
Q

What drugs can cause hyperkalaemia?

A
  • Eplerenone (potassium sparring diuretic)
  • Ciclosporin
  • ACEi
  • Tacrolimus
  • Dalteparin (and all Heparins can contribute to hyperkalaemia because of inhibition of aldosterone synthesis).
21
Q

What drugs can cause dyspepsia?

A
  • Alendronic acid

- Prednisolone

22
Q

What drugs can cause diarrhoea?

A
  • Alendronic acid

A

Fentanyl (opioids)
Temazepam (benzodiazepine)
Trazodone

24
Q

Medication that is contra-indicated in ischaemic leg ulcers?

A

Atenolol.

B adrenoreceptor blockers can cause peripheral vasoconstriction and worsen ischaemia in PVD,

25
Q

Two medication that can worsen biventricular failure?

A

Prednisolone and CCB (diltiazem)

26
Q

Drugs that can predispose to candida infection?

A

Corticosteroids (prednisolone)

Antibiotics

A

Antiplatelet agents like aspirin are usually stopped up to 7 days before surgery.

30
Q

What medications should be withheld until renal function improves?

A
  • ACEi and ARBs are nephrotoxic and should be stopped whenever AKI arises.
  • Allopurinol can accumulate in renal dysfunction
31
Q

Medications that can cause confusion in patients with reduced renal clearance?

A

Co-codamol
Diazepam
Prednisolone

Steroids can cause confusion particularly in the elderly.
