1) departments involved in community engagement
2) departments involved in social media like corporate comms and officers who control the social media
3) key decision makers - senior management, acc, dcc, chief etc
What are the 4 points to make for problem profile
1) laws were rapidly put in place
2) Grace 2021
3) difficult to maintain trust and confidence
4) critical incident
What was the laws put in place for covid
Coronavirus act 2020
What did Grace 2021 find
Many people saw the new laws as a threat to freedom as they restricted peoples ability to earn a living, move freely and achieve goals
Why was Covid 19 a critical incident for Leicestershire police
As the effectiveness of the police response was likely to have a significant impact on the confidence of the community as the police had more control than ever
What does SARA stand for
Scanning
Analysis
Response
Assessment
What did the facebook posts state for scanning
Post stating that from start of pandemic to November 2020 Leicestershire police issued 589 FPN’s and dealt with 16,000 reports of Covid breaches
Showed video footage of officers giving tickets
What did Leicestershire police website state about COVID 19
People can be arrested for breaching
What are the 2 points for Analysis
1) Majority of people I dealt were against the police taking action. Wanted to see if this was representative of the whole of Leicestershire
2) wanted to see what methods used by Leicestershire police were most and least favoured
What is response point
Put forward recommendations for changes Leicestershire police could make as a result of my research
Harris et al found minority ethnic groups were more likely to be
Stopped by the police,
Threatened or subject of violence
Falsely accused of breaking the rules
Harris et al found that police consistently failed to use PPE what does that mean
It disregards any argument by the police of a public health justification for their actions
Harris et al - what did minority ethnic groups have to do to protect themselves
Use their social class or professional status and record interactions on a mobile phone
Harris et al - what did police produce
Profound harm to minority ethnic groups rather than make the public feel safer
What are the 4 E’s
Engage
Explain
Encourage
Enforce
Positive of my quantitative research design
Scientific so it Uses numerical values that can easily be statistically analysed
Downside to quantitative
Lacks depth and details
Benefit of using Likert scale
Allows for more degree of opinion than asking yes or no questions. For example people can express they are in aggreeance but also that there is still room for improvement
advantage of volunteer sampling
Finding volunteers is fast and easy and low cost
Disadvantage to volunteer sampling
Bias - my own social media
Age range of participants
16 - 82
% boys
24.6
% girls
