Pressors Flashcards
(13 cards)
What happens when giving pressors through peripheral lines?
Can cause local necrosis
Pressors in patient’s with known CAD may cause what?
May induce demand ischemia
All pressors have the potential to cause what CV problem?
Tachydysrhythmias
What is the treatment for necrosis of peripheral IV sites 2/2 pressor use?
Administer 0.1 mg/kg phentolamine at the site as a reversal agent
What is the MOA of dobutamine?
B1 agonist
WHen is epi the first line pressor?
Post cardiac arrest or in anaphylactic shock
What is the first line pressor?
NE
When is dobutamine used for pressors?
Cardiogenic shock
What is the main MOA of dopamine as a pressor (chronotropy, inotropy, etc)?
Chronotropy
When is dopamine best used as a pressor?
Bradycardic shock states
What is the MOA of milrinone? When is it used?
inotrope
Decompensated HF, but call cardiology before use
How do you make push dose epi? What is the concentration?
Draw up 9 mL NS and 1 mL from epi stick from the code cart, shake well. Makes 10 mcg/mL of epi. Push about 1 mL at a time.
How do you make a dirty epi drip? What is the concentration?
1 L of NS inject full code cart epi stick,
1 mcg/mL
