Q

What is the medical action plan?

A

1st Crew Member:
On finding a medical situation start to deal with it and call for assistance either verbally or by pressing the call bell three times

2nd Crew Member:
Get the assistance of a third crew member and inform them of the nature/severity and location of the incident

Obtain appropriate medical equipment including the AED, wash hands, put on gloves and return to the scene to assist

3rd Crew Member:
Inform the Commander of the incident as quickly as possible

Report all events clearly to the pilots including the signs and symptoms of the casualty and what treatment other crew members are giving. In cases of Basic Life Support ensure that the pilots are informed if the AED is being used and to request that an AED is available on landing for use off aircraft

If necessary make a PA for a medical professional

Any Other Crew Member:
Help and support casualty’s travelling companions and gather as much information for the Passenger Medical Report Form as possible from companions or personal effects

Help out wherever possible
