Principles and pharmacology Flashcards
(11 cards)
What are the inhalational anaesthesia used for induction
volatile - sevoflurane
Nitrous Oxide
What is used for IV induction of anaesthesia
Propofol with or without opioid
How does propofol work
acts on the GABA receptor – makes more chloride come into the cell which restricts the membrane potential from reaching threshold for excitation
What are the potent, quick acting opioids
Fentanyl
Alfentanyl
Remifentanyl
What opioids dont accumulate
Remifentanyl
What opioids are slower onset and longer acting
Morphine
What are the non depolarising muscle relaxants - competitive agonists at acetylcholine receptor
Rocuronium and atracurium
What are the depolarising muscle relaxants - acetylcholine receptor agonist
Suxamethonium
What are the reversal agents for muscle relaxants
Neostigmine - acetylcholine inhibitor + glycopyrrolate - muscarinic anticholinerginic
Suggamadex
What is given in phase 2 of anaesthesia - maintenence
- inhilational - volatile (sevoflurane) with or without opioid
- IV - propofol with or wihout opioid
- Muscle relaxant
