Principles of Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR) Flashcards

1
Q

How is range determined

A

By measuring the elapsed time between the transmission of the radar pulse, and the reception back of the reflection.
Distance = Speed of light x Time

Q

Describe the radar cycle

A

The Cycle starts when the RADAR sends out a Pulse. Some pulses hit nothing and continue on their way. The radar then switches to receive mode and any radar return is then processed and displayed.
