Q

What are some considerations for bouncing audio in Pro Tools? How is the bounce affected by soloed or muted tracks? How is it affected by the Timeline selection?

A

Pro Tools:

  • Bounces only audible tracks
  • bounces tracks based on the selected output path
  • The bounced file will be a “printed” version of your session
  • bounces tracks based on the Timeline selection
  • Bounced material is automatically time-stamped

Play only solo track or eliminated muted tracks. Anything selected will be bounced, if no selection all content will be bounced.

Q

What is meant by the term “bounce to tracks?” What is the typical process for creating a stereo bounce to tracks within a session?

A

To create a stereo mixdown (or a submix) within Pro Tools, you can record any or all of your session track to an available stereo Audio Track

Combine the audio output of selected tracks using an internal mix bus and to record the resulting mix onto a seperate stereo Audio track.
