Q

What is a null hypothesis ?

A

It is a statement of no difference or no correlation. An assumption there is no relationship in the population from which a sample is taken with respect to variables being studied.

Q

What is probability ?

A

A numerical measure of the chance certain events will occur. A statistical test gives the probability that a particular sample did not occur if the null hypothesis for the population was true.

Q

What is a type 1 error ?

Q

What is a type 2 error ?

A

Q

Why do researchers tend to use a significance level of 0.05 ?

A

It is a good compromise between being too strict or too lenient about accepting the null hypothesis. So tries to avoid type 1 and 2 errors ?
