Sedation options for Paeds:

• Laceraine
• Nitrous (if cooperative)
  PLUS
• Fentanyl
  —> 1.5 microg/kg IN. Top up half after 15 min.
  —> Onset 5 min, lasts 60 min.
• Midazolam
  —> 0.3 - 0.5 mg/kg IN. Can burn.
  —> 0.5mg/kg PO. Bitter. Can mix in food.
  —> Onset 15 min, lasts 60 min.
  PLUS
• Fentanyl
• Ketamine
  —> IV ideal. 1-1.5mg/kg IV. Start 1, then add other .5 after 10min.
• If distressed ++, give 2-4mg/kg IM first, then can get IVC and top up +-
• **Clonidine ** (anxiolysis)
  —> 4microg/kg PO. 2 microg/kg IN.
  —> Onset 40 mins (slow)
