Breaking down of product process into small parts with each worker worker allocated to a specific task
What are the advantages of the Division of Labour on the worker?
-> Allows workers to be more skilled at specific task
-> Able to find employment more easily
-> Learn new skills or improve on current one
What are the disadvantages of the Division of Labour on the worker?
-> Can become boring as it is repetitive
-> Boredom leads to job dissatisfaction
-> If job is to specialised there is a risk of unemployment.
What are the advantages of the Division of Labour on the business?
-> Efficiency is improved as workers can perform task more quickly and accurately
-> A greater use of specialist tool
-> Production time is reduced as workers don’t have to move around
What are the disadvantages of the Division of Labour on the business?
-> Less flexibility in work place
->Workers becoming bored can lead to a poor quality in work
->If 1 stage of production breaks down, all other stages have to be stopped
