What is Project Management?
The process of planning, scheduling and controlling all activities within each stage of the system development cycle.
What are the 5 stages of the System Development Cycle?
- Understanding the Problem

What is a Project Plan?
A summary of a project that specifys who, what, how and when. It clarifies what needs to be done and helps people to understand how they fit into the project.
What is a Project Goal?
The result of the project if succesful.
What is a Deliverable?
A tangible item expected from a task.
What is a Schedule?
The timing of major tasks and who will do the work.
What is Information Management Software
Software that helps individuals on a project to manage information and schedule tasks.
What is Project Management Software
A tool to efficiantly plan, manage and communicate information about a large project.
What is a Gantt Chart?
A bar chart with each bar representing a task or stage in the system development cycle.

What does Active Listening involve?
Restating, reflecting and summarising the speakers major ideas and feelings.
What does Conflict Resolution involve?
Listening to the other person’s views and compromising to reach a solution.
What does Negotiation Skills involve?
Discussing a problem and arriving at a concensus.
What does Interview Techniques involve?
Careful preparation, implementation and follow-up.
What are some general rules for interviews?
- Make the Interviewee aware of the purpose of the interview
- Ask open ended questions
- Check the responces by restating the interviewee’s viewpoints
- Be aware of their body language
- Close the interview by reviewing the main points and thanking the Interviewee
- Review notes and follow up with interviewee on any unclear responces.
What is Team Building?
The process of getting a group of people working together.
What do systems analyists do?
Perform analysis to decide whether a new or updated system will solve the problem.
What do programers do?
Convert a written description of a problem into a set of programs.
What does a project manager do?
Develops schedules, checks work and resolves conflicts.
