Q

Important to Remember:

A
  1. In Portuguese, only one part of a sentence can be replaced by a pronoun, not more.
  2. Portuguese does not have the equivalent of the Spanish personal ‘a’:

“Conoces al profesor” vs. “Conhece o professor”

  1. If the main verb is not followed by an infinitive, place vowel-like pronoun before the conjugated auxiliary verb. Otherwise, the pronoun always goes before the main verb. If the main verb is an infinitive, place (o,a,os,as) after.
  2. The ‘z’ is deleted: Fiz os deveres –> fi-los.

The ‘s’ is deleted in final position before adding ‘n’: Escrevemos nos muito–> escrevemo-nos muito

  1. Nasal sounds at the end of words cause vowel-like pronouns to add ‘n’
