Romans 8:5 - For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
Calling - Indiscriminate
Isa 55:1 - Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Matt 22:14 - For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Calling
Indiscriminate (Isa 55:1; Matt 22:14)
Earnest (Ezek 18:32; Mat 23:37)
Calling - Earnest
Ezek 18:32 - For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD; so turn, and live.”
Matt 23:37 - “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!
Regeneration
Necessity (John 3:3; 1 Cor 2:14)
Regeneration creates union (John 15:5; Gal 2:20)
Regeneration - Necessity
John 3:3 - Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
1 Cor 2:14 - The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
Regeneration - Regeneration Creates Union
John 15:5 - I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Gal 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Conversion
God is the author of conversion (Acts 11:18; 2 Tim 2:5)
Man is called to conversion (Isa 55:7; Acts 17:30)
Ongoing conversion (Luke 22:31,32; Rev 2:5)
Conversion - Man is called to it
Isa 55:7 - let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Acts 17:30 - The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
Conversion - God is author of it
Acts 11:18 - When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
2 Tim 2:25 - . . .correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
Conversion - Ongoing

Rev 2:5 - Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Faith
Christ as object (John 3:16; 36) Word (or Promises) as ground of faith (Gen 15:5-6; Rom 4:20-21) Faith as 'fides quae' (Jude 3) Faith as 'fides qua' (John 3:16) Faith as gift of God (Eph 2:8)
Faith: Christ as Object
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:36 - Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
Faith: Word (or Promises) as ground
Gen 15:5,6 - And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
Rom 4:20,21 - No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
Faith - fides quae
Jude 3 - Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.

Based on Christ’s righteousness (Rom 3:25)
Justification - General

Justification - By faith, not works
Rom 3:28 - For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
Gal 2:16 - Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
Justification - Based on Christ’s Righteousness
Rom 3:25 - whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.
Adoption
