What is a prophet
a person who is thought to be in direct contact with a spiritual being and is seen as a link or messenger between that being and people.
Key differences between major and minor prophets
The “major” prophets are called that because their books are longer and have bigger, maybe even global, meanings. The books of the Minor Prophets are shorter, which is why they are called “minor.”
Role and purpose of prophets in the bible
prophets are messengers of God, communicating His word to his people. Their purpose is to warn, encourage, and challenge, often calling for repentance and faithfulness.
Characteristics of prophetic figures
A lot of the time, prophetic figures have a strong connection to God, can hear and understand divine messages, and act as messengers or mediators between God and people.
The message and mission of specific prophets studied in class
In most faiths, including the ones that are taught in class, prophets act as divine messengers who provide promises, counsel, and warnings to humanity.
