(36 cards)
Wrist scan type is
helical
Wrist typical algorithm
Bone +
window for the wrist
2000ww/50wl
Indications for wrist CT
complex, scaphoid, carpal #s that are unclear on general radiography
Shoulder scan type is
helical
Shoulder algorithm is
Bone
window for the shoulder
2000ww/500wl
Indications for shoulder CT
Proximal humerus, scapula fractures. Pre-operation planning, shoulder implants, tumors, etc.
Knee scan type is
helical
Knee algorithm is
bone +
typical window for knee
2000ww/500wl
Indications for knee CT
Assess tibial plateau fracture.
Degree of alignment of # fragments especially on articular surface
assess bone integrity around a prosthesis
Enhanced abd/pelv scan type
helical
Enhanced abd/pelv algorithm
Standard
Contrast used in Enhanced abd/pelv + scan delay
IV: 150mL @ 3.0mL/sec with 50mL saline flush
Oral: 675mL before exam + 225mL right before scan starts
scan delay = 65 sec
Typical window for Enhanced abd/pelv
Soft tissue: 400ww/50wl
Liver: 150ww/70wl
Lung: 1500ww/-700wl
Indications for Enhanced abd/pelv
suspected abdominal mass, tumor staging and abscess
unenhanced abd/pelv will be the same as enhanced, the only difference is…
… There is no contrast used
Liver scan type
helical
Liver indications
suspected hypervascular hepatic tumors
(carcinoma/melanoma/sarcomas)
Liver group A is called…
Arterial Scan
Arterial scan requires patient to hold their breathe on
inspiration
Arterial scan contrast oral and IV + scan delay:
IV: 125mL @ 4.0mL/ with 50mL saline @ 4.0mL
Oral: 450mL 30 minutes before exam, 225mL 10 minutes before exam, 225mL again right before scan
Scan delay = 35sec
Liver group B is called…
Venous scan
