What did John Locke say?
A
He claimed the consciousnesses makes the self. Prince and cobbler example, they switch bodies and no one knows until people start to identify changes in their behavior. He develops his argument by saying one man could be the same person psychologically.

What did Thomas Reid say?
A
Uses the soldier example to show that psychological continuity is not necessary. The general who remembers being a solider but not a boy is still the same person as the boy.
