Behavior is a function of the person and their environment
Hindsight Bias (I knew it all along)
Tendency to exaggerate ones ability to have foreseen how things actually occur
Hypothesis:
A prediction of the outcome, if…then.
Theory:
A judgement or conclusion after performance of experiment.
Random Sampling:
Choosing individuals from the population that meet no specific standard and are randomly selected.
Random Assignment:
Each person has the same likelihood to be apart of the control/variable group
Correlation:
Naturally occurring relationship
Causation
variables and constants, something changes the other
Correlational Studies
A study of a natural occurring relationship, uses real-world settings, however, it can be difficult to define the cause.
Experimental Research
Seeks clues to cause and effects, random assignment, HOWEVER, some important variables can’t be studied in experimental research because it is a set-up.
Independent Variable:
The variable being changed
Dependent Variable:
The variable that changes as a result of the independent variable changing.
