When renewing (every 2 years) need to attest to completing 20 hours of APA accredited CEs (every 2 years)

*must be APA accredited CE
* must be related to practice or science of psychology
*can also include publications–10 hours for a publication about the practice of psychology (can do once per to year period)

*under oath statement
*a random selection of psychologits every year will be audited and asked to show CE certificates showing at least 20 hours
*if you don’t have it, you will be fined and forced to make up the hours and get extra as punishment (most common type of sanction)

• Fraud in seeking license
• Guilty of offense related to practice of psychology (under law or regulations) –ex: sexual offense; medcaid fraud
• Guilty of conduct that places competence in question (gross incompetence or gross negligence)
• Practicing psychology while impaired by alcohol, drugs, physical disability, or mental istability, habitually drunk or chemically dependent
• Convicted of criminal offense calling into question ability ro practice psychology

responsibilities

* dangerousness evaluations
* competency to stand trial
* criminally responsible in context of MI
* review incompetence/restoration
* review petitions for release from BSH–do the eval
* eval sexually dangerous persons (SPD) when petition to release
* commitment of alcohol or substance abuser

requirements

• licensed by BORP
• 2-years post doc work
• at least 1000 hours work at inpatient unit that accepts involuntary commissions
• approved training visit at Bridgewater State Hospital or other similar facility
  *complete at least 2 different kinds of forensic evaluations in two different settings under supervision of Forensic mental health supervisor
• complete examination by Forensic Mental Health Supervisor (written and oral)
• at least 2 letters of recc from mental health professionals

can subsitute forensic certification from American Board of Forensic Psychology (ABPP) and get waiver
