A person’s perception of their own subjective wellbeing (SWB)

Ask closed questions e.g how satisfied are you with your life as a whole? Very satisfied, not very, not at all

Time sampling- alert ppts to record what they were doing and thinking at that particular moment
Ppts given beepers that went off at a selected time
Ppts then had to send message to researcher about what they were doing and thinking
How were correlations used to investigate happiness?
Researchers investigated wat factors co-varied with happiness
E.g having positive judgement of life events
How was a meta- analysis used to investigate happiness?
Researchers investigated happiness by exploring multiple pieces of research already carried out
They reviewed the research and came to overall conclusions about happiness
