How many board members are on the PTBC?
7, 3 public members ( non med professionals) 3 members with 5yrs+ experience, 1 in PT education. 4 are appointed by government.
How long can someone sit on the PTBC?
4yrs per term. (Max of 2 terms)
What does the Board govern?
Denial, suspension, and revocation of licenses
What are the details regarding EMG studies?
Performed by a PT with certification only. (May not diagnose, or have prognostic interpretation.)
How long are pt. records held?
Pt. records are held no less than 7yrs following d/c
How long should records of minors be held?
At least 7yrs, or 1 year after minor has reached 18yrs
PT to Aide Ratio for patient related tasks?
1:1 under immediate supervision
Non-patient related tasks for aides?
Observation, transport, physical support during gait/transfer , housekeeping & clerical duties.
Ratio of PT to PTA
1:2, unless otherwise permitted by the board. Though the number of PTAs should never exceed 2x the PTs in clinic.
Identifying yourself as a PTA when your licensed will result in what?
Misdemeanor
How long can your license be suspended?
no greater than 12 months
How long is probation for unprofessional conduct?
3yrs
Probation early termination can occur when?
After minimum of 2 yrs
How long of probation for mental or physical illness?
1 year
Petition for license reinstatement
Must include 2 letters of recommend from PTs.
Criteria for acceptance into diversion program
Licensed PT/PTA, abused drugs/alcohol, voluntarily requests admission, agrees to med/psych exam, agrees to cooperate with all aspects of program
Diversion committee consists of?
At least 3 members, appointed based on previous recovery or knowledge in substance abuse. Term of 4 years
Termination of diversion program:
Completed program, failed to comply, no more benefit
CEU requirements when renewing license
30 hours CEU, every 2 years. Checked by random audit.
Violation of practice act consequences?
Misdemeanor, fine up to $1,000, imprisonment no more than 6 months, or both.
When does a PT/PTA license expire?
At 12 midnight on the last day of the birth month of licensee (every 2 years)
Renewal fee for license?
$200-300.
Can an expired license be renewed?
Yes, within 5 years.
Change of address
Must notify the board within 30 days
