A

regular and effective QA should reduce risk of error effecting patients, particularly around under/over dosing.

2 important reasons for QA

A

radiation cannot be withdrawn - only sometimes can it be compensated for

improvements in hypo fractionation means greater impact on pt if radiation delivered is wrong (e.g. breast hypo fractionation from 40gy/15# (6.66% per #) to 26gy/5# (20% per #)
