A

The Korean war was fought from 1950-1953, and was known as the forgotten war. It was the starting of many more wars led by two countries with the US and USSR taking opposing sides. An official peace treaty was never signed so tensions are still high from both sides of Korea.

A

JFK was John F. Kennedy, He was the president during the cold war and the civil rights movement. He was there for the Cuban missile and the Berlin wall conflict. His response and leadership helped America and had a significant impact during the Cold War.

What was the Cuban Missile Crisis?

A

The USSR planted missiles in Cuba in case of a nuclear war, their missile range wasn’t far enough to hit the United States from Russia. A spy plane spotted the missiles in Cuba. The United States agrred to remove its missiles from Turkey if the USSR would do the same in Cuba. It was the closest the world ever came to a nuclear war.

A

Senator from Wisconsin that held many baseless investigations to find communists in the United States. His respect was lost when he accused the military of having communists among them. The term “McCarthyism” is still used to symbolize reckless accusations.
